Saya, the robot teacher
TOKYO - This is Saya, a robot teacher. She is from Japan. She can express six basic emotions: surprise, fear, disgust, anger, happiness and sadness The robot's mouth can open, its eyes too . Saya can smile and say simple pre-programmed phrases such as "Thank you “.
Saya was tested in a real Tokyo classroom in 2009 with a few fifth and sixth graders.
The robot teacher is remote-controlled by a human watching her and the children through cameras. This robot has no intelligence. It has no ability to learn. It has no identity . It is just a tool
